Whenever I play games on my computer it shuts down after like 5 minutes, I think it is the CPU because whenever it shuts down, I unplug my computer, take off the CPU cooler and I feel the CPU, it is really hot. I don't know if I should reapply thermal paste, or just buy a new CPU Cooler.

These are my SPECS:
MB: MSI a75ma-g55
CPU: A8-3850
RAM: 8GB DDR3
GPU: ASUS GTX 760
PSU: 600W Thermaltake Smart

Solution

Ok first off, STOP doing this. Getting your CPU good and hot and then immediately removing the cooler is bad and can damage the CPU. Also removing the cooler and not cleaning the CPU and cooler very well and applying new thermal paste means that every time you are putting that cooler back on chances are you are causing the next...

What cooler are you using? The first thing to try is to CLEAN off your cpu and base of your cooler completely, apply thermal paste properly (half a pea in the middle of the CPU), and install the cooler. Then Start the system up, monitor your temperatures with HWMonitor, and see if it fails again. If it does we can work from there.

Your cpu is always going to be hot. Your hand is no gauge of how hot it is.

Ok, my CPU cooler is exactly like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4lBFDBliFY. I will go buy some thermal paste today or tomorrow and I'll see how it goes, I'll let you know, and thank you for your response.

I'm pretty sure my PSU isn't dying, and if it dies then I can just go return it.

Ok the stock cooler should be fine for this system, but lets see how this works before you go spend money. We need to see your system temperatures and if it crashes. If its not getting hot and crashing, then it may be the PSU.

I got some thermal paste yesterday and the temperatures dropped by about 15 Celsius and that seemed to do the trick. Thank You

I have one more question, when I apply thermal paste, do I have to wait a day or two, or can I just start using my computer?

Just use it, in fact as it breaks in the temps should get better.
