I'm looking to buy ASRock Z77 Pro4-M for my i7 3770 because my previous mobo died. Can I really OC my CPU with this z board by only changing the multiplier and if yes is the OC for all cores or just the 2.

Thanks for the replies. Do you think I would need a very expensive cpu cooler for that 400mhz OC or my 212 evo would do the job?

All non k can change multiplier; down that is, but sandy and ivy can go up. All you have to do is google limited oc on sb and see even intel has slides about this amazing feature that allows you to oc non k. Or you could search the forum and see people actually doing it.

I guess you didn't google or search the forum. The multiplier can go up. The 400mhz is 4 bins, that's 4+ on multi. That would be complicated to do with bclk considering all the different sku are running different multis. On top of that bclk can be changed to go higher. I usually just say 400mhz because I don't recommend changing bclk and saying 4 bins confuses people.

yeah I see. I think only Gigabyte and ASUS have this feature called multicore enhancement to run all cores at 4.3ghz from what I read on the articles and I don't think AsRock has it.

Do you think I should leave the voltage at Auto for that OC or manually adjust it?

I don't know because I don't have the mobo yet but I found a video about the AsRock z77 pro4 and had the load optimized settings in the BIOS so I guess it's the same in the micro atx edition as well.

Hello.
The mobo I got is coming tomorrow and I wanted to ask a question about the non K OC. Do you think I should use the load optimized settings to get it to 4.3ghz and what voltage should I start at if I don't use AUTO?

Look to see if there is a separate option for enhanced turbo. Also just try ocing as it can enable it automatically. Auto oc may change bclk which you don't really want to do. Stock vcore would be a good starting point but you'd want to use offset so start at -.01 and see where that puts vcore. Load vcore probably shouldn't need more than 1.2v.

Thanks for the answer.
So should I just set all cores multiplier at 43 and check if it enables it on its own when I run a stress test?
Well if it doesn't, I guess the only way to achieve 4.3 at all cores full load is by raising the BCLK right?

Yes. No, try the auto oc profiles which is the optimized settings. It should also have other profiles there too and one may be enhanced turbo 30. Some of those may adjust bclk but I would think there is one to just have enhanced turbo. You're just going to have to go through settings and experiment.

Hey can I ask you a question.
Do you think I should format my hard drive after a motherboard change?
