Hi,

I was just wondering before buying new ram sticks (cause one of the prebuilt ones died) I wanna know if my system can support them, I have an Acer Aspire M3970 prebuilt motherboard with 4GB of DDR3 (Now 2GB because the other stick died) an GT 1030, a 300W PSU and an Intel i7-3770...please help thanks <3

The new sticks I wanna get is these: Patriot Memory Viper 3 Series which is 2 sticks of 4GB (=8GB) DDR3 1866MHz

I see at first no reason why they shouldn't work. Only thing might be that the bios gives incompatibility issues.Don't see other reason for that than they are rated for 1866mhz or the motherboard being an oem one. I as well guess with that oem motherboard they just might run at 1600mhz or XMP must be available in the bios.
Nope, Ivy Bridge only supports up to 4GBit chips on the sticks, so any 8GB sticks would need 16 chips on them.

That RAM is advertised as "Compatible with Intel® 6 & 7 Series / AMD 9 & FM Series" which means they use high-density 8Gbit chips. If it works at all in your early memory controller, only half of the capacity will be seen.
