HP Win 7 black screen.

HP 6000 Compaq Win7 pro 64 bit computer boots up but black screen. I got this refurbished computer from a thrift shop for another old guy who Im going to teach how to use it, I can boot it up but all I get is the HP splash screen for a half a second that says Start Windows.The voltages look OK on the PSU. Ive Googled for an answer to this problem and I think it might be that the driver for the graphics card is problematic but I cant get into the BIOS with the way it is now and change to the on board integrated graphics. I have a HP Win 7 Home Premium re-install disk if thats any help with this? Any help will be appreciated.

I don't think it's a graphics driver issue - - - you shouldn't get a black screen even if the graphics driver was missing altogether because a temporary default driver is built in to Windows. Go back to the vendor & complain about it not working. Get them to plug it in & fire it up so they can see it running.
