Greetings,
recently I took a new ACT fibernet connection, my plan promises to provide 75mbps but whenever i do speedtest I get result as 34mbps, I spoke to the technician, but he said that's the max speed I'll get from this router but on the router TP-LINK TL-WR841N it says it supports upto 300mbps. It is type N router
Do I get more speed? or 30mbps is the max speed i can get?
is there anything that i can do to increase the speed?

Solution
I would ask ACT fibernet, their list of compatible modem and routers they suggest , why? its a matter of protocols, your modem portion of your router probably cannot handle the higher speeds provided by your ISP, the router maybe capable of 300MBS but the modem part isn't.

any reason why I have a modem, and separate router instead of the commonly used "Router" that combined both. why is that better? because when the ISp changes or upgrades their hardware I can keep my router and only have to upgrade my modem to get higher speed and not have to reconfigure my house all the time.

You need to test plugged directly into the modem.

The 300m is a marketing lie. First your router has 100mbit WAN port so it can never go faster than that. The 300m is some WiFi number that actually represents the way the data is encoded. You can never get that type of speed except in some unrealistic lab test condition. It is not uncommon to only get 30mbps on a 300m 802.11n connection.

You need to always test with ethernet. You will still be limited to 100mbit because your router only has 100m ports but that is still faster than the 70m connection you purchased. If you had paid for say 150mbps you would only get 100mbps.
