I am building a gaming pc for the first time and I would like to know if my PSU is overkill or do I need a bigger power supply. My power supply is Corsair VS Series VS650 650 W Active PFC 80 PLUS White Certified Power Supply

6 x Aigo Halo 120mm ring fan
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Silicon Power 240GB SSD 3D NAND With Read Up To 550MB/s
2 x Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3600
Seagate 1TB BarraCuda SATA 6Gb/s 32MB Cache
intel core i5 8600k
Gigabyte GTX 1060 Windforce OC 6GB
GIGABYTE Z370 AORUS Gaming 7

Solution
It's both overkill and underkill. An excellent 550W PSU would be just fine with these specs. But on the flip side, the VS series is also fairly low quality and not recommended for gaming rigs or for overclocking. With quality parts like this, it's incredibly hard to justify not going for something at least on the level of a SeaSonic Focus 550 or an EVGA G3 550.

For that setup good 450 W unit would do, 550 W would be sweet spot, 650 W is not unreasonable either, esp. when going to OC. But Corsair VS is not exactly most reputable unit. For those parts I would rather advice EVGA G2 or G3, Seasonic Focus Plus or Corsair RMx.

If you already have a VX650w psu and it has given you no problems, go ahead and reuse it.
a good 450w unit is ok for a GTX1060.
If you are buying new, I like the Seasonic focus line. 550-650w.

What parts do you already have that you plan on reusing?

Hyper212 is popular and cheap. If you have one, go ahead and reuse it.
But you may not get your maximum overclock for the 8600K.
If you will be replacing it, look at these noctua TDP guidelines:

I particularly like the NH-D15s.
