Dell optiplex hard drive replacement

I need to replace the hard drive on my Dell optiplex 750 desktop. I am having problems finding which particular hard drive to purchase.the current hard drive is dying need a replacement. Sorry for noob question it's been 10 years since I've replaced a hard drive I haven't a clue what's compatible. Thnxx I'm a welder not a current puter xpert

I would bet that your Dell has SATA hard drive, so any drive you'll find at a store, or on the web, will do. Consididering the age of your PC, I would not go for a drive above 1TB.

The bigger problem you'll have is transferring data between the drives. By all means, if you can afford it, start fresh - disconnect the old drive, plug the new one, re-install applications, then connect the old drive, copy over the data, and send the old drive for retirement (it makes for good shooting target).

Thank you I didn't know if there were any differences between Sata drives. It's been such a long time since I replaced an aged ide drive. I know to put the failing hard drive in the freezer trick. So maybe I can at least transfer some of my important data. But you gave any other trucks or ideas that might help. Many Thanks fir sure
