I have an Asus - STRIX B350-F GAMING motherboard and a Rysen 3 2200 g cpu. Pcpartspicker said I may need to update my Bios, and then went on to say I might need to use a different cpu to do that, is that all correct? If you're not sure, would it hurt my motherboard to try to boot it up without updating it, if it actually did need the update, or would it just not boot and no harm done? Help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

It will simply not boot. You need to check with your vendor whether he will supply a motherboard from one of the latest batch, which has the BIOS updated, or whether he can do it for you. In most cases, they should be able to do it before you purchase. In case you dont get a updated board, you can do it yourself free by getting the "Boot Kit" from AMD... https://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/2Gen-Ryzen-AM4-System-Bootup.aspx
