Hello, repair newbie here.

I'm trying to replace the ribbon cable that connects the power button to the motherboard of my laptop (ASUS X550ZA), but I've been unable to find the exact same cable. I found, however, a cable almost identical to the one I need, except for 2 codes which I don't know the meaning of.

My (broken) cable has the codes:
AWM 20798
VW - 1 HF

The other one I found has these
AWM 20624
VW - 1

My laptop is not in the compatibility list of that cable, but very similar models are (X550CC for example). Cable measurements and other specs are identical, but I'm unsure about these two codes. Should I go for it?

The ribbon cable available here, same as the one you found, says for ASUS X550
https://goo.gl/1qSTGU

Description: "20 pcs Free Shipping NEW Laptop Flex Ribbon Power Cable AWM 20624 80C 60V 200mm 6pin For ASUS X550"
The additional identifiers; ZA, CC etc. probably identify different model features but the basic model is the X550 so the ribbon cable should be compatible with all the X550 models. It apparently meets the number of wires, gauge, wideness, and length so confirm that and go ahead.

Confirmation here... this Ribbon cable replaces both AWM numbers.. it says: "NEW 9 Pin 0.5mm 20624 20798 AWM 80C 60V FLAT FLEX RIBBON CABLE Same Side VW-1"... further down it says: "Cable Number - 20624 / 20798"

That means this cable replaces both 20624 and 20798 and both replace each other.

Not so sure about those, they look very different in size, thanks for your answers though!

Check the Cable Number - 20624 / 20798... it's the same you were asking about and the one on your laptop. The length as the download page says can be shortened by folding it.. length only makes a difference if it's multiple times longer than the original.
