Triple Monitor GPU inquiry

Solution
I'm not sure if even SLI will enable you to reach 144Hz at max settings across 3 1440p monitors. This is a link of a Benchmark of GTA V max settings on 3 1440p monitors with 1 1080Ti on an OC i7. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PnXqJayxBA. High 50's to low 70's FPS. SLI should give you better FPS but it's not multiplicative.

I've run 3 1080p monitors on a GTX 460. I currently run 2 1080p and 1 3440x1440 Gsync monitor on 2 1080's in SLI. I have run the same setup with 1 1080 also. I don't know if you are planning to game on all 3 simultaneously or not. Should be ok to game on 1 and do twitch/youtube or whatnot on the other two. Not positive in a surround gaming setup.

I'll want to utilize them all simultaneously when gaming. Not all the time, but I don't want to feel stretch out if I want to dedicate on occasion 4hrs+ of surround gaming. A part of me considered SLI, but it's not widely accepted yet in many games, in some titles it hinders your performance. I don't want it to sit there not being used, so I was wondering if one was enough.

One thing to consider, is most 1080's come with only 2 DP and 2 HDMI ports. HDMI doesn't support over 75Hz at 1440p. So you'll have to find one with at least 3 DP's. From what i've looked up it seems 1 1080Ti should be fine to run all 3 however not at 144Hz with max settings.

EVGA and Nvidia have the 3 DP that I seek with one HDMI, which is fine for VR. I'm aware that some GPUs only have two of each, so I had to do some HW on that. So you think SLI is required to get max settings?

Hmm. Thanks for the link. But he's doing it on a 1080 resolution. Unless I'm mistaken. I wonder if I should hold out for the new line of GPUs coming later this year.

My bad I could have swore it was 1440p. Which means it'll be lower for 1440p. It looks to me that if you want 3 1440p monitors in surround to game at 144Hz at max settings then the current hardware isn't up to snuff.

But it came close. Needless to say, I'll have a blast regardless. Thanks for your replies.

You can find many benchmarks with 4k but as a comparison, 1440p x3 is 33% more pixels than 4k so whatever it gets in 4k subtract some fps. Most games in ultra, will probably get 40-50 fps so sli is needed just to get over 60fps average. With sli, min fps is still going to dip below 60 on the more intensive games but you can lower settings to get more. Here's a vid of 1080 not 1080ti, single and the first set he has sli comparison. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SExxssqPXlw
