Option to load into the BIOS not showing up

I have a computer that I am getting from a friend. I booted it up, and it works just fine, except for none of the USB ports work even from just starting up the computer. Not even a USB drive is recognized when trying to boot to the USB drive. On top of that, I cannot even get into the BIOS. The BIOS manufacturer is American Megatronics. When I turn on the computer, really the only option when it starts up is to select the device you want to boot to. (F8) but there is no option that I can see that would allow me to load into the BIOS. I don't exactly know the full specs of the computer, but I do know that it has 4GB of RAM and an Intel core i2 quad core processor at 2.40 GHz. Does anybody have any ideas or a way to solve this? I want to try to get into the BIOS to see if the USB ports are just not enabled or something.

Usually it's either F1, F2 or the Del(ete) - mash away on that as soon as you power the PC up. sometimes, you find you have to hold one of the keys down as soon as you power up, until you hit the BIOS.

As you say, might be that the usb ports are disabled, or you might need to find and install the driver for them

I actually managed to get it working. The option to boot into the BIOS wasn't showing up so I popped out the CMOS battery, turned the computer on, let the remaining voltage drain, shut the computer off again and popped the CMOS battery back in and it started working perfectly fine after that. Thanks though!
