So every few days my WiFi will disconnect, and I will see the yellow triangle on my WiFi icon on the bottom right of my laptop screen. It happens to all devices connected to WiFi. It happens every few days. Once in a while, I get the asterisk symbol instead, but usually it is just the yellow triangle. I have a N300 router and fiber optic internet at 150 mbps down/25 mbps up. A simple unplugging of the router for about 10 seconds and plugging it back in fixes it no problem. My question is why does this happen, and how can I get it to stop altogether. Thank you.

Pretty sure this questions is in the wrong forum section :)

Anyway, what you are seeing is the modem losing the internet connection.

Depending on your home setup it could be an issue with your router or from the outside from your ISP. Seeing a reboot solves it every time as you say it is most likely your router acting up. Check for updates on it, reset it to factory settings and if the issue persists it might need to be replaced. Or you buy your own router and put that one in Bridge mode.

That's often a classic sign that the router is on the blink & ready for replacing, preferably with something of higher quality if yours is a bog-standard low or mid-priced one.

It's happened to me twice with two Netgear routers - - the wired side was fine but WiFi kept disappearing every couple of days - - - restarting the router always fixed it till next time, but that just got annoying & frustrating, especially for my babe wife.

So I ordered a Billion router which cost twice as much and I mounted it on the wall - - - That was 4 years ago and it's been totally reliable - - WiFi is solid as a rock.

So it's "get your wallet out" time I reckon.
