Hello everyone, i have a H110M mobo. It supports up to 6th gen CPU's (Up to i7 6700k). But my current CPU is a G4560. But my question is, does my H110M still support my CPU after updating the bios? Because i want to upgrade to a 7th gen cpu. And i just want to see if i can update my bios right away, and upgrade a few days later. Is it possible or not? Because i'm quite confused because the G4560 is Kaby lake. And my prebuilt didn't receive a BioS update. So, is it possible

Thanks,

-Robin

Yes it still supports all CPUs it did support at earlier BIOS versions after update. As a matter of fact, you have to update BIOS BEFORE putting 7th gen there, it won't work the other way.

Yeah, but my G4560 is Kaby lake. Does that matter? Because the CPU i want to take is Kaby lake aswell. Or does it depend on the CPU and not the architecture?

If you are using g4560 now, your BIOS is already updated to support 7th gen - any 7th gen CPU. Any future BIOS version will still support both the 6th and 7th gen CPUs.
Technically, BIOS version may support one CPU and don't support other from same family - that happened on early Ryzen boards, they would support R1700 but not R1600 and would need a BIOS update to support the former, so it does happen here and there. But as far as I know it did not apply to 7th gen Intel CPUs, never seen any 100 series board that would support one Kaby Lake but not the other (or that would need different BIOS version for that).
