I've had this problem for a while now. While playing games the pc will just completely hard freeze. Sound stops, all the fans are running and the last frame before the freeze is on the monitor. Except, the hdd light turns off. The temps are under reasonable limits. I've tried chkdsk on both partitions but it returns no errors(although it does seem to fix the issue for a while before an abrupt power loss?(placebo maybe)) I've tried memtest and it returned no errors. The pc never freezes during normal usage. It's just when I'm playing some games(csgo has freezed multiple times and a couple of other games too). SMART utility shows 100 pending sector count and 100 unreadable sectors. The psu is probably not the culprit because it's a new antec unit(just installed a new cm 450 80+, will see if that changes anything). I'll leave aida 64 stress test on for tonight and see if that freezes it.(but i've only really seen it happen while playing games). I'm really not able to pinpoint the problem so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks :D. BTW the freezes are completely random. Sometimes they don't happen for hours and sometimes they happen every times I'm 10 minutes into the game.

Hi,

While the hard drive has a few bad sectors, shutdown while gaming are most likely due to overheating, unstable overclock, bad PSU or mobo.

1- Monitor your CPU / GPU temps (hwmonitor and msi afterburner) Max cpu temp : 70's expect shutdowns @ 100 degrees GPU max temps : 85's
2- Try reverting your gpu to stock speeds
3- Test with known working PSU, after a while the PSU might degrade and chokes when delivering high power.
4- Downoad hard disk sentinel trial of crystal disk to monitor your hard drive performance and health.

Okay so I just installed a new psu and I will check if it freezes again on the 21st. What am I supposed to do if it happens again? RMA the motherboard?
