Not booting, why?

My prebuilt desktop (Hewlett-Packard p6641f) does not boot. I've tried without ram, no beeps. Tried resetting CMOS, nothing. Tried even without the GPU, nothing. No power light up front, no nothing. It is plugged in; the PSU light is on. What could go wrong?

failed PSU is logical number one suspect....

If it is not longer under warranty, you are 'on your own' for troubleshooting, so...

Do you have a known good spare of sufficient wattage to replace it with? Have you swapped a PSU before, or, can you get access to/borrow a known good spare to rule it out? Takes 10-15 minutes...assuming a standard, non-proprietary case/PSU

Sadly, no spare PSU. It had been working about 4 days ago, and the system had been shut off for then. But for warranty, it's a PC from 2010, so no warranty. Then again, the stock 250w unit does work, as all the fans (CPU, case, GPU, and PSU) spin, the hard drive spins up, the DVD drive looks for something. Guess it might be something else, because the PSU handled gaming on this system, and nothing has changed.
