Assuming you meant the GA-78LMT-S2, there are going to be some other factors involved:

1) What are the intended uses for the system? Since you're also inquiring about a graphics card, I'm going to assume gaming, but please verify.
2) There are three different revisions of that motherboard (1.0, 1.1, and 1.2). Which revision you have will likely determine if a BIOS update is required in order to use a better processor. The revision number is typically printed in the corner of the motherboard closest to the expansion slots.
3) What are the rest of your system specifications?

A) Current CPU
B) Current amount of RAM
C) Current Graphics card (if any)
D) Power Supply Make and Model number. Don't just say it's a 500watt PSU. We need to know the actual manufacturer and model number.
E) What operating system (Version number and whether 32-bit or 64-bit).

That is an AM3+ socket so the processors are kind of dated; however, your upper end chips would be something like the AMD FX 8350 or 9590. Get an adequate cooling solution for either processor.

Always, always, ALWAYS check the CPU Support List for a motherboard before making any recommendations or purchases. The board I linked doesn't support either of those chips, but until we know for sure which motherboard the OP has, any recommendation would be pure speculation and quite possibly incorrect.

Indeed, that is my bad. The board only supports 95w chips. in that case the FX-8300 would be the best option here I do believe.
