Computer freezes requiring hard reset

Hello,

i am experiencing freezes in my Windows 10 machine that require hard reset.

The computer is as following:
MB: GIGABYTE GA-B85M-HD3 - Intel B85
Proc: Intel Core i5-4460
Mem: HyperX Fury Black 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600
PSU: Seasonic SSP-550RT 550W
GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1060 6GT OC

The computer occasionally freezes (without BSOD) leaving the picture on the monitor still and any sound playing remains stuttering. Nothing but a hard reset works.

Now, I checked temperatures, these are all OK about 40 °C (the freezing occurs also shortly after start). Yesterday I ran Memtest for about 12 hours without any errors.

Two days before I performed a clean installation of Windows because the computer kept freezing also under the previous installation (where I had all the latest drivers), but this did not solve the problem. This time I did not install any drivers, just the ones Windows found themselves but the result is the same.

The computer freezes mostly during browsing in Chrome, viewing YouTube and playing games (this is weird, I can play a game in FullHD at high settings without getting a single freeze in hours, other time the game freezes after 5 minutes of playing; this applies for example to Kingdom Come (here it freezes only in cutscenes)). If I switched to Firefox the freezing was minimal but for my work I need Chrome.

It appears to me that the freezing has something to do with video playing (cutscenes in games, youtube, sometimes playing video files, flash ads on web pages, …) but I am not able to test it in any way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Cheers

EDIT: I dont know if it has any connection but the computer cannot hibernate. Once I hibernate, it shuts itself down, stays off for a second and then turns itself back on. Sleep is the same.

I removed the GPU, each memory stick, all two DVD drives, secondary HDD from the computer but the freezing still occurs.

In the case remain only MB, PSU, processor and SSD. I set virtual memory to a fixed number, disabled file indexing on disk, disabled SSD going to sleep but nothing is of help. If I leave the computer with Chrome playing Youtube on it freezes in some 10 minutes..

I am going desperate. My next move will be to install some Linux as a dual boot to the SSD to verify whether this really is a hardware problem. But can I be sure after the freezing will not occur under Linux? Or is the hardware OK but Windows communicate with it in a weird way? Hard to tell..

Please suggest me a solution

UPDATE: the computer freezes also under Ubuntu 16.04 LTS run from an USB stick with my SSD unplugged.. I am getting a new PSU and see if it solves the problem.. I can go for a full refund if it does not

UPDATE2: the guys at the computer reseller told me that this is hardly a PSU problem, that would look different. So, instead of PSU, I am getting a new motherboard (a tough call as socket 1150 is not a mainstream today, but i managed to buy MSI B85M-E43), so we'll se on Monday..

Any inputs still appreciated

Well, nothing to thank for here, nobody helped.

With a new motherboard the freezing stopped.

Perhaps this little diary can help somebody experiencing the same issue.
