Need Help Desperately Please

Can anyone please help me, im not sure what is wrong i brought this pc second hand and when i went to go turn it on nothing happened, upon opening the case and pressing the power button i see that the motherboard lights up and the fans spin lamely for a ver short period of time (like maybe 0.5 of a second)..... I read up here that might need a new power supply so i proceeded and brought a much more powerful one than what it originally came with. Still the same result i have checked all the connections and power cables and everything is all good, any suggestions ?

I would contact who sold it to you and have them make it work or refund you.
If that is not an option, then any number of things could be wrong.
Does it have onboard video or an addon video card? If it has both, try plugging the monitor into each one before booting.
I would unplug anything not absolutely necessary to boot, like hard drive, CD drive, etc.
Find and remove the CMOS battery for 5 minutes and then put it back in and try again. If this doesn't help and If you have another PC laying around borrow the CMOS battery from it and try that to rule out a dead CMOS battery.
Look over the motherboard very thoroughly, check each capacitor to see if it burst or has stuff leaking out. Look for any burnt components.
Try removing the RAM and reseating it. Try with 1 stick at a time and try each stick and each slot.
Last resort is to breadboard it. Which means taking it all apart and setting up the motherboard on a non conductive surface like a cardboard box and only attaching the components needed to boot. This eliminates the possibility of it being some part of the motherboard touching a metal surface and shorting.

Maybe others have ideas but these are some ones I would try.

Hi thank you so much will try thatvas soon as i get the chance unfortunately i dont have a spare battery but will try everything else you've suggested thank you. Unfortunately i cannot get hold of the prevous owner. It came without a GPU but i had a spare one laying around so i inserted it will try all you have suggested thank you so much again

Just have to ask you one nore thing once its out of the case how can i "turn it on" as the power button is attached to the case and this new PSU doesnt have a power switch

The power switch connects to the motherboard via a plug with 2 openings that fit on 2 prongs. These prongs on the motherboard can be connected (shorted) with a metal object to start the computer.
