I have just come across someone selling two 4 GB ram sticks, I asked if they were ECC registered and was in formed that they were not, but then he went to state that they were pulled from a freenas server. I looked up freenas server and it seems to be an operating system of sorts. Is there anything to worry about when I purchase them as I want to use it for personal computer uses. Any issues? If it helps the brand is "Super Talent".

It seems this RAM is non-ECC, unbuffered, so it should work with your motherboard. Note however, that if you plan to mix it with the sticks you already have, the results are unknown. They may work together or not, and nobody can tell you beforehand if it's gonna be one way or another.
The brand is of no help, the part number of both the RAM and your motherboard would be useful. But most servers run on registered RAM and most normal motherboards will refuse to work with registered RAM. ECC is less of a trouble, some motherboards will be able to use such RAM even if they don't use error correction. But again, without knowing specific models it's just a speculation.

most (newer) custom personal computers do support ECC ram but like one said a lot dont work with registered ram. I am refering to non off the shelf computers that is for the custom part.. like you build your own computer. I would just check your motherboard manufacturer and see if you can use it or not.
