hardware reserved half of instaled 8gb ram

soo i have this problem where i have 8gb of ram and 4gb is usable i searched the forums everywere no fix. runed memtest everything fine swiched ram still. is it somekind of bad luck in tehnology for me.?

hardware reserved might be related to a bios setting for an AMD APU. if that was the case your computer would only show 6gb total even though you know you have 8 installed (given you set gpu allocation to the 2gb max)

could be a ramdisk. I'm sure you would know if you had one of these setup.

end of the day as long as its not impacting your performance it dosent matter.

load up chrome and do 20 tabs. if it dosent lag out and crash then your good anyway

well it impacts the pc it selfe its slow. and like i have msi a68hm-p33 v2 motherboard and the bios show only 4gb of memory and in cpuz it showing only one channel is being used how do i use both?

I had the exact same problem with 2x4gb RAM. I couldn't find a solution and ended up replacing the RAM (for 2x8gb). It worked just fine after that.

Have you tried inserting each individual RAM stick by itself to check if the problem is with the RAM?

Well yeah both ram sticks work fine. Everything seems to be fine ram slots ar working, ram is working everything but still from 8gb only 3.96 usable and 4gb are in hardware reserved. is there any fix for it. i dont really want to but new 8gb stick bcs i need the money for somethign else.

But have you tried to power down and reseat the RAM? Does it have 4 slots? Move them to the other two slots.
