Hi everyone,

I just got this laptop as a gift but I have been reading different forums and they all suggest that I return my laptop and get something with an Intel processor. Now I have asked a friend who has been in the IT business for over 30 years and he says that with the processor I have I should be okay.

These are the specs: AMD Dual-Core processor A9-9420 with turbo core technology up to 3.6GHz, AMD Radeon R5 Graphics, and 6 GB of RAM.

It would be greatly appreciated if I could get some clarity on this subject.

Thanks

Yeah... a laptop with a 7th generation i3-7100u CPU and integrated Intel HD 620 graphics core for the same price or less than a laptop with an A9-9420 APU would be better....

That's because Core i3 CPUs are dual core CPUs with Hyper Threading (HT) which means it can process up to 4 instructions at once even though it is only a dual core CPU. The A9-9420 is simply a dual core APU, on top of that even if the Core i3 was simply a dual core CPU the Core i3 is still more powerful due to how it is designed to work. The Intel HD 620 is also more powerful than the Radeon R5 (Stoney Ridge) graphics core in the A9-9420.

Having said that... yes, your laptop can run the Sims 3.

The sims 3 yeah with no issues. If you meant the sims 4 you can still play it on lower graphics. My wife has a $300 Walmart laptop that she plays it on with low settings and no lag at all
