I have a nearly 4 years old MSI GS60 notebook laptop that comes with an Intel i7-4710HQ and a GTX 870m GPU.
I just felt like I needed to reapply thermal paste for the laptop, however, results were worsening, I don't know what is happening but I have a badly fluctuating temperature between 75C - 95C. It is pretty frightening to me even though the CPU was made to sustain high temperature. But idling at that range of temperature is completely nonsensical.
Do I need to reapply the thermal paste?
Does applying a little bit much of thermal paste worsens the temperature?
P.S. I applied the line method for both the CPU and GPU, but quantity wise I personally think it was a little bit more than the line method used in the video. Also the metal surface of the CPU was like a tiny rectangle.
