Best thermal pads for mobo?

Alright, so I've had my MSI 970 GAMING Motherboard for 3 years now, and it's been a pretty good board. Until I noticed something leaking out of one of the heat syncs. Turns out, a lot of people are having problems with the thermal pads melting on the MOSFET. Which is, uh, not good. I originally wanted to replace the melting pad with thermal paste, but I've heard that it won't make good contact with the heat sync. I've never really bought or used thermal pads before, never had to. I know they're probably all pretty much the same, (except for the kind that melt) but I still want to hear what other people think.

I can't find any info on how thick the pads are supposed to be, but the length of the heat sync is about 5 inches. Thinking about buying this https://www.amazon.com/200x200x1-5mm-Thermally-Conductivity-Silicone-Temperature/dp/B074W99H6R/ref=sr_1_12_sspa?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1521229524&sr=1-12-spons&keywords=mosfet+thermal+pad&psc=1 Also I'm pretty sure that without a thermal pad the heat sync will just hover over the MOSFETS. So using paste is pretty much out of the question without modifying the cooler. I guess if it's not thick enough and doesn't make good contact, I can stack them on top of each other.
