I have a I5 6600 and a 1060gtx playing 1080p. I'm thinking about upgrading to a I5 8400 for gaming, (Always playing demanding games) is it really worth it to the point of noting a difference in fps ?

In some CPU heavy games, such as BF1, you will see a decent bump. But in less CPU intense games (which is most games) you wont see much, if any, difference at all.

To me, I would not make the change. The 6600 is still a really good CPU. Considering you will need a new mobo and CPU, it is not worth the cost and you will only see minimal, if any, improvement.
