my debit card was used by someone else please help

hello

im not sure if this is the appropriate forum and if not im sorry . basically my debit card was used by someone and the person ordered from music magpie £850 and amazon £750 , this is a lot of money and it took me along time to save this money, is it possible to track this crook. or can i call amazon and music magpie and ask them if they could provide me his details , please help

if this is not the approriate forum then im really sorry, im just worried

i did and they said i am covered and i will get my money back , is there still a way to track this person down?

Contact your bank to have them place a hold on the card. Then go to their office to challenge any illegal debits from your account. Your bank may be able to guide you on what information to give to the authorities.

Call your bank. I to am in the UK and had similar happen twice in recent years. HSBC were aweful and it took 3 weeks to get my money back, Barclays were very good and I think it took 2 days.

Depending how the fraud is committed the bank may or may not be able to trace. However with the amounts involved it’s unlikely the bank will invest much time as they have much bigger frauds to deal with.

Wolfshadw :

Call your bank immediately and tell them you want to dispute a transaction. Until the investigation has ran its course, that money will not be available to you or the retailer.

After that you call Amazon and let them know that these charges were not authorized.

Never found out who or how, only what and where, don’t think the bank cared. Just not worth the hassle for the bank.

I'm in the United States, but we had a situation once where someone we suspect used a skimmer and got our card information, sold it, and the person made a fake card. We are from the Midwest, and started getting charges to our account from California. We've never been to California.

Since we do online banking, we called the 800 number on the back of our card and reported our card as stolen. So thankfully we were covered.
