When I plug my headset into my motherboard directly, with a split jack, my microphone is really, really quiet. I have to plug it into my Xbox controller, and that into my PC, in order to be heard. I have an MSI Z270 motherboard, and I can't find a common problem with it. Any fixes?

ps. my headset is a Logitech G231 Prodigy

"Split jack": Are you talking about a "Y" splitter: one audio in being sent to two audio outs?

Does the headset/microphone work correctly when used without the "split jack"?

Not sure about the connection paths you are using.

My thought is that one of the plugs or ports is not fully compatible.

Google TR, TRS, TRRS (Tip, Ring, Sleeve) and learn about the physical connections used by headsets, microphones, and audio devices in general.

Ensure that all of your connections match up: plugs (male and female), cables, and audio ports.
