I have an Intel Core2 Quad Q9300 running on LGA 775 socket. I saw trick to make a Xeon X5460 LGA 771 runs on my motherboard. I've checked the user benchmark website and i saw the score for gaming was 32% to the Q9300 and 43% to The x5460. On cpubenchmark.net the Q9300 has 3165 points were the x5460 has 4366 points. I'm willing to take the risk however is it worth the upgrade? would i feel a faster using experience? I'm looking for a better gaming performance.

If you can find it under 20$ modded (ready to go) and update bios with codes, but the main thing is which motherboard do you have?
Most will agree to save $$$ for new rig.
From my opinion its obsolete as i have 3 775 rigs.

Just because it's faster doesn't mean it's fast enough. What games are you hoping will improve in performance? What videocard are you using?

Maybe it worth the upgrade because a X5460 is very cheap. Wich MOBO, RAM and GPU have you? If you have a P45 mobo, you can easyly put X5460 at 3,8GHz and above...

Its not worth its its an OEM.
The problem is spending more on old stuff isnt worth it.
An 1155 or 1156 with an xeon will do better job with newer games.
They usually come cheap as 7$

I was wrong 1156 xeon come cheap.
4C/8T but 1155 has but they are over 100$.
They are limited to 4 cores.
Save up and buy new system.
An i5 8400 with motherboard and 1 stick of 8GB comes around 350$.

I really can't save that money i would buy the real deal with 1000$+ or just change a small part in my PC
If i become a faster use daily i guess i will go for it
Are my motherboard and RAM compatible with the Xeon x5460 and would i need to update my BIOS or just plug and ready to go?

I modded my 775Dual-vsta and G31M-S2L to accept higher wattage CPU's and unsupported CPU's.
Like my G31M-S2L couldn't have Q6600 with latest bios i just modded codes via tutorial on that page, boom done.
