hello guys, I have a problem with connecting the 8 pin connector on my PSU to my mothetboard. The PSU is semimodular and has a 4+4 EPS12V cable as CPU1. The 8 pin socket on my mobo only allows for half of the 4+4 CPU1 cable to connect. Apparently the same story is true for the CPU2 cable, on one end it is an 8 pin connector, which connects to the PSU, and the other end it is a 4+4 cable. Anyways the manual states:

"Connect the 4+4-pin EPS12V cable to the motherboard.
(Optional) – If you plan on extreme overclocking and your
motherboard supports additional 8pin or 4pin CPU power
connectors, connect the second 4+4-pin EPS12V cable. This is
only needed for heavy overclocking or for Dual CPU motherboards."

So does this mean that in order to use the entire 8 pin socket on my motherboard I have to use both CPU1 and CPU2 together? in other words connecting one half of CPU1 into the 8 pin socket, and connecting one half of CPU2 as well?

Thanks for any help!

my mobo is a Gigabyte ab350 gaming 3.

I think you have it right. Not sure by the way you worded it though.

Basically, the EPS12V cable has two ends (obviously). One end is a 4+4, and the other is a 8pin. You connect the 8pin to the PSU, and then combine the 4+4 to make it a total of 8pins and connect that to the ATX12V on the motherboard.
