Hey guys, I need some help diagnosing a hardware issue.

Parts list (if needed): https://goo.gl/mDQPW6
OS: Windows 8.1

I made this build around ~2 years ago and I've been having issues with it as of late. The main problematic event was whenever my power supply had a capacitor blow up with smoke coming out if. After opening the case I didn't see any burn marks on the other components and the PSU was the only part that smelled like smoke. I swapped out my PSU with one that is the exact same model and is brand new to see if anything else went wrong.

After turning on the PC, nothing unusual happens until after I login and the desktop loads. All of my desktop icons are stacked in the top-left corner of the screen, and if I tried to move one of them the PC would freeze for a few seconds, shut off instantly, then repeatedly power itself on/off without making it to the BIOS. Could it be an issue with cable management or did the old-PSU take out another component with it?

Solution
so your system is
CPU: Intel - Pentium G3258 3.2GHz Dual-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master - Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
Motherboard: MSI - H81M-P33 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
Memory: Crucial - Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Storage: Seagate - Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: Zotac - GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Video Card
Case: Cooler Master - N200 MicroATX Mini Tower Case
Power Supply: EVGA - 430W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply

well when a power supply goes, it can take items out on its way out.

- I suggest you pull your video card out of the equation, plug your monitor unto the computer motherboard
- Then leave 1 ram sick on the motherboard.
- Clear cmos...

- Clear cmos (i.e. unplug from wall, gently pop motherboard battery out, wait 2-3 mins, put it back in, apply power)

boot the system and see if it will boot to bios (on error press F1) and see if everything is good, then save and exit... let it reboot and see if it runs ...

if not , unplug hard drive, and try again
