Is Vulkan dead

Solution
If you only look at windows then vulkan seems dead. But on linux vulkan adoption is doing really well. The studio that specifically port games to linux even try to moving completely to vulkan instead od supporting both opengl and vulkan (F1 2017 for example is vulkan exclusive for it's linux port).

On windows if developer are given a choice between DX11, DX12 and Vulkan majority of them will definitely going to pick DX11.

Such a shame ,i really had high hopes for it.
And i noticed all games that have vulkan implemented got it in 2016.
Vulkan in 2017 didnt get a single game ported on its api.
Seems dead...

Was it ever really alive?
Lots of those games have "Support added via an update" or "Support Planned". Only "Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus" is native Vulkan (and it's a failure of a game, politicized to barf).
Obviously the majority are not native Vulkan games and that tells it all...

PS: Only Android has just a few "Vulkan" native games. Oh, well, that's for kids that spend $1000 on a cellphone to play games, not truly a mass-adoption.

Huh? A dozen games launched in 2017 with Vulkan support either from day-one/pre-launch or a few months later. I'd say that's far more important than ports of older games which may have never been meant to ever support Vulkan.

For most companies, porting old games to new APIs (as in actually having to rewrite stuff instead of simply rebuilding the game with an updated engine) simply isn't worth the effort as they aren't deriving any significant new revenue from the effort and expense. I suspect many of those 'ports' are simply developers using them as test cases for game engines that got updated with Vulkan support to check for breakage and evaluate how much effort it would take to adopt the updated engine in games that are currently in development using a previous version of the same engine. If the effort is low, then the game developer may try its luck with a another title or two based on the same engine to verify that it wasn't dumb luck. Releasing the results of that internal testing doesn't cost the developers much, provides them with field testing data ahead of their next game launch and makes for good PR if successful.
