Help. I am not sure which to upgrade. I only have 3 choices that are inside my budget. (A. Upgrade my i5-4460 to an i7-4970), (B. Add 8GB RAM to my Current 8GB RAM to make it 16GB), (C. Upgrade my Current GTX 1050 Ti to a 1060 6GB.) I can only do one of the three choices. I am aiming to get 60+ FPS in PUBG @ 1080P High-Ultra. I don't mind dipping in to the 50s in tough situations as long as it averages around 60-70. I can't afford upgrading to the next gen CPUs. Any thoughts?

Current Rig:
i5 4460
8GB DDR3 1333
Windows 10
GTX 1050 Ti
1.5TB HDD

Budget: $400

The GPU. But the weaker 4460 wouldn't allow the 1060 6GB to fully spread its wings on some games. A CPU upgrade will once again level the playing field allowing for anything up to the 1080 Ti. That CPU upgrade I think should happen first. The GFX card would be the impulse quick fix bigger FPS boost of an upgrade but it would be a shortsighted one.

I see, but after the 7th Update of Update 1.0, I'm getting consistent 60+ Frames in Mixed Settings (High AA, Textures, Effects) (The rest is either low/medium). Should that change?

Anyway, forget the goal of Ultra @ 60 FPS, How about Medium-High FPS? Which is the best option among the 3? Thanks.

I agree, but which choice would give me the best performance? At least a stable 60 FPS at Mix Settings (Ultra AA, High Textures, High Effects, High Post Processing, Everything Low)?

If you want a quick FPS fix then the 1060 6GB is the upgrade choice.

I would pick the 4790.After that comes the 1070. While the 1060 6GB would be an upgrade it's a SENSELESS WASTE!!!! of money unless you are looking at one priced at $289 which is retail pricing instead of crypto-scalping. Aside from price the performance boost won't be dramatic. You're going up 1 rung on the ladder. I recommend no less than 2. I have the 4690K. While that will offer a boost the 1060 6GB will offer a bigger one. The issue I have is the 4460 will then become a bit of a ball and chain. The CPU and GPU pairing you have is a balanced one. Step up to the 1060 6GB and the 4460 will hold you back in some games. So I only get some of my money's worth? That's not a route I would choose. I would first get the CPU right. Then you can save a significant amount and upgrade to a 2070 or some other proper upgrade.

I am looking at one priced at $390 right now. I know that these cards' pricing are messed up right now but it doesn't matter to me anymore. Here's a list of the games I really play. May I know if my CPU won't bottleneck the GTX 1060 6GB?

PUBG (Very Often)
Planteside 2 (Very Often)
Dota 2 (Sometimes)
CS:GO (Sometimes)

Right now with the GTX 1050 Ti, I get 60-70 FPS in Pubg (AA High, Textures High, Postproc Med, Effects Med, Everything Low). I also get 60-75 FPS in Planetside (All Ultra, Shadows Off) in battles unless it's a 96 vs 96 Battle, it goes under 60 depending on the situation.

In PUBG, my problem is that it dips under 45 and stutters sometimes during tough situations or random times. (I think it stutters everytime a new player is being rendered or idk.) In Planetside 2, my only problem is that it goes under 60 fps in 96 v 96 battles but i'm pretty sure it's around the cpu and ram. But that's the least of my concerns right now because it's rare to be in a 96 v 96 situation.

Those are CPU intensive. The 4790 is still my choice.
