So, a friend of mine is trying to buy a new computer and while he wanted the i7 8700, the motherboard is way more expensive down here. So i was wondering: will he be ok if he grabs a 7700 instead? He does stream himself playing, btw.

Solution
take a look at this,: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/game-streaming-encoding-coffee-lake-ryzen,5326.html
for AAA gaming and streaming simultaneously, the 7700 (or in the case of the article, the 7700k) is found wanting, depending on the game and settings.

Tell your friend to wait for the new B version mobo's for Coffee Lake CPU's, it will be much better value, and better performance. Going for kaby lake CPU's right now doesn't make sense.

My suggestion is to buy a less expensive I5-8600K and a Z370 motherboard.
It turns out that the higher speed cores of the overclockable 8600K(near 5.0) is very good for games, and that combined with 6 threads makes the overall performance comparable to the 8 threads I7-7700k(the i7-7700 has less performance)

i think the I7 8700 and a H370/B360 mobo will get better results than the 8600k and Z370, but admittedly in certain scenarios the 8600k might get better FPS OC'ed. But the 8700 with HT would be a better CPU, IMO. Just waiting rather than jumping now makes more sense.
