Hi,
I've been getting this error from widows troubleshooter for the past 2 days.
I've worked for about 6 hours doing everything every guide I found tells me (went through almost every step with this one http://)
To I tried connecting the exact same cable that I use for my pc to a laptop and that worked fine, therefore the problem is with my pc and not my router/modem.
The problem seemed to happen after a Windows update so I tried to restore it to before the update, still doesn't work.
Any solution? Pls? I'm desperate....

Yes obviously, that was the first thing I tried.
Also really don't think it's the router since other devices work normally

What is the make/model of your motherboard (assuming you are using an integrated network adapter on your motherboard)? If not, what make/model adapter are you using? Also, what version of Windows are you running?

It is entirely possible that the network adapter has become defective. It can and does happen. Just something to keep in mind.

Please do not start another thread asking this same question. Both of your threads have now been merged. Stick to this one for any follow-up. Thanks.

The motherboard is Asus P8H77 - I
Pretty sure the network adapter is in the motherboard but anyways the adapter name is realtek pcie gbe family controller.
My windows version is windows 10, version 1709 (OS Build 16299.248).
Hope this helps u somehow.
Also sorry for the two posts, it's my first time posting here, still confused about everything, my bad

I took a pcie from an old pc I got laying around and was about to try that but my motherboard doesn't have any slot to put it in....
Is it possible that it simply doesn't have an extra pcie slot?
There's only a slot for my gpu and 2 ram slots.
Also thank you for trying to help

Sorry, you are correct. I missed the "I" (for ITX) on your motherboard model.

For troubleshooting only, you could remove your GPU (video card) and install the PCIe network adapter in that slot (x16 PCIe slots can accommodate lower level devices - backward compatible), while using your integrated video adapter.

This is just to isolate the issue. Also, look inside the network port itself to ensure no debris is in it.

Well apparently it's not the same slot or something.
It just doesn't fit.
I tried with both a pci card for Ethernet and a wireless lan pci, the slot just doesn't fit those cards.
If I do somehow get to the conclusion that the network adapter I have has malfunctioned, does that mean I'll have yo replace my whole motherboard in order to fix it?

I assumed it's something like that (the pci thing) I guess I'll have to look around to find a pcie since all the pcs I got around are really old.

Let's say I do find one and put it in and it still doesn't work, is there anything I can do after that?
Asking this cuz not sure I can get my hands on a pcie in the next couple of days so trying to see if there is something to do in the meantime.

And about the USB to Ethernet device, thanks I'll consider it if I nothing else works

The problem seemed to have occurred right after I had a Windows update, so I thought if I recover back to before the update it'll fix it, I'd didn't.
So right now the windows version isn't up to date I assume and don't really have a way to check or update it.

What exactly do you mean running in command prompt.
If you mean all the netsh and ip setting reset yes, tried everything there is on any guide, if you mean something else please expain.

My next step is trying to just completely factory reset my pc and hope any problem it had will go away. Any thoughts about that?

Did everything, got this message:
"Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."
Ugh.... What now?

Try finding an inexpensive PCIe (PCI Express) network adapter as discussed earlier. Install it and see where this goes.

It may also be time to consider re-installing Windows. This could be some deeper issue in your registry that can't be easily resolved that a clean install will resolve.

Have you tried accessing the network from an alternate user profile/account (if not, create a local account and try it) on your system?

I've tried using a USB to ethernet and it didn't change anything so I'm assuming that checks off any problem with my actual hardware since other hardware and driver (the USB one) have the exact same problem.

Yea that's probably what I'm going for now, a factory restore of the pc.

I tried logging into my brothers account and everything seems the same. just made a brand new account and after all the setup it's all the same. Doesn't seem to change anything

Well I did it, I resent windows, a factory reset and it worked.
I'm honestly just sad I didn't do it before, everything I tried ended up being a waste of time.
I wish I could know what actually caused the problem.
Thanks for trying to help and if this ever happens to anyone and no guide ever works.... Just reset windows, don't waste hours like I did
