Good day to you folks!

Two days ago, I encountered a problem with my display driver.
I randomly get this message, "Display driver has stopped responding and has automatically recovered. Nvidia Kernel mode 391.01"
It first started when I replugged my speakers at the back panel after using my headphones.

The next day when I started my PC I started getting that message randomly as I watched a movie, browsed the internet and even when I just kept it on and did not even move the mouse.

I tried doing the following but to no avail:
1. Uninstalled the drivers by using devmgmt.msc and reinstalled it (latest version 391.01).
2. Uninstalled driver using DDU method.
3. Increased the GPU processing time (TDR stuff).
4. Installed a previous version of the driver, 387.92. Did a custom installation.

I haven't tried cleaning the GPU yet since I cleaned it just 2 weeks ago.

Following are the specs of my PC:
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1.
CPU: i5 4460.
GPU: MSI GTX 1060 (1 Year old).
RAM: 8 GB.

Please advice me on what to do because I can't find any other fix on the internet D:

Thanks in advance and have a good day :)

MERGED QUESTION
Question from Metal Grade : "Need urgent help! NVIDIA: Display driver has stopped responding and has recovered."

Good day to you folks! :)

I encountered the following problem 2 days ago and have been randomly encountering it till now.
"Display driver has stopped responding and has automatically recovered. Nvidia Kernel mode 391.01"

It first occurred when I replugged my speakers into the back panel while the PC was on. A few hours after that and the next day, it would randomly occur when I was browsing the internet, watching a movie, playing AC Origins (guaranteed display driver error) and even when the PC was 100% idle.

Also, it is guaranteed to happen when I unplug or replug the speaker/headphone into the back panel of the cabinet. Otherwise it's pretty much random.

I tried the following fixes but, to no avail:
1. Uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them using "Custom Install" instead of "Express Install".
2. Installed the latest drivers i.e. v391.01.
3. Increased the GPU processing time (TDR stuff).
4. Uninstalled the drivers using "devmgmt.msc" and reinstalled a previous version i.e. v387.92.
5. Uninstalled the drivers using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller).

Nothing worked no matter how many times I tried it.
Another fix that I found on the internet was to clean the GPU, but I skipped it since I cleaned it just 2 weeks ago.

Following are the specs of my PC:
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1.
GPU: MSI GTX 1060. Idle temp. from GPUZ: 41-46 degrees Celcius.
CPU: i5 4460.
RAM: 8 GB.

Please advice me on what to do since nothing seems to be working!

Your time is much appreciated and Thank You in advance :)

It's not that unusual, the latest driver has a compatibility issue with your system.
This will cause blue screen or memory dump...
Yeah I have the same problem sometimes.
Delete this driver and install an older version.

It's better to use an older driver, which "is" compatible. Look for previous versions, and use an older driver.

OR use the driver that is built into windows, which is not the fancy driver...but you may find that the default windows video driver works better, and is far more stable.

I did try installing an older version which did not give me problems i.e v387.92 but it didn't help. So maybe, there's something else faulty D:
