Ryzen 1700 w stock cooler
16gb RAM
Gigabyte 8GB RX580 XTR
4 case fans

What wattage should I be running? I am currently using a 450W psu and my computer turned off after 20mins of hard gaming. The screen went black/red and the computer restarted. The psu I have now doesn’t have an 8pin it has a 6+2.
Thanks for helping me!

6+2-pin = 8-pin

It really dependson on the power supply. I would have gone with a higher wattage unit though.

Were you checking your temps?

What is the exact model of your power supply?

Doesn't your GPU have 8-pin + 6-pin power connectors?

Were you overclocking?

Here is a handy chart.
Check how many 6 and 8 pin connectors your particular RX 580 needs.
http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page362.htm
The chart says 550w.
I have no problem overprovisioning a PSU a bit. Say 20%.
It will allow for a stronger future graphics card upgrade.
It will run cooler, quieter, and more efficiently in the middle third of it's range.
A PSU will only use the wattage demanded of it, regardless of it's max capability.

Regardless, buy only a QUALITY psu.
I like the Seasonic focus line.

Hi, yes that is the GPU I have. I'm running a EVGA 450B psu. I misspoke, the psu I have has a 6+2 and a 6 pin that I am using to power the gpu. Can someone recommend a reliable psu that will be sufficient? I am looking to spend less than $70

EVGA 450B. No, I was not overclocking. At the time of the crash I wasn't monitoring the temps, but earlier on higher settings, my temps were around 73C.

I dont believe JohnnyGuru has actually reviewed the semi-modular FOCUS units yet, just the fully-modular FOCUS Plus units with 10 year warranty.

Thanks so much! Also, this might be a stupid question but... I just bought these fans: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01G5I6MRK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And my motherboard only has one fan connection near the front of the case where I will be mounting the fans. Will I be able to connect the fans directly to the psu? Will I need an adapter? The fans have standard 4-pin female connections

Should I get a 650W to be safe if I can afford it?

Yes, go ahead.
It is not so much a matter of safety as it is of being able to accommodate a high end card like a GTX1080ti in the future.
