I've noticed that my Samsung 960 benchmark is a way slower than the regular speed of a 960 Pro.

System Specs:

CPU: 1950x (No overclocking)
RAM: Corsair Dominator 3000 Mhz (Running at 2934 Mhz)
Motherboard: ASRock Fatal1ty X399 Professional Gaming
Power Supply: Corsair AX860i
Operating System: Windows 10 Creators Update
Drivers: Samsung NVMe Installed (Same performance without it)
Misc Update & Drivers: Everything is up to date (Bios, Windows, Hardware drivers etc)
Software: Anti-Virus disabled.
Bios Storage Mode: AHCI

Note: The NVMe is running the OS

I have attempted to change the M.2 slot and tighten the screws which yielded no improvement.

Yes, both are mine. The sequential reading speed ideally ranges from 3000-3500 depending on disk load (OS Disk) and test accuracy. On the other hand, the IOPS (Random Read/Write) is consistently slow and too far from ideal speed.

Certainly, your sequencial access was almost as per the spec but random access was far off the chart. I would say 10x less than the spec.

you need to update the x399 chipset driver from amd which handles pci-e and install samnsung nvme driver

make sure you don't change the default bclk freq (if you motherboard supports bclk tuning), I have seen changing the bclk affects nvme m2 drives performance.

I have the same problem, and almost identical results with my m.2 970 EVO. Here are my results: https://i.imgur.com/IBpHqOz.png
I'm trying to find a solution to this. I have eliminated a few factors and am fairly sure Windows 10 is the issue but cannot be completely sure. Could also be BIOS.

Edit: I found out that by setting Interval to 30 seconds (cool down time for SSD) I get better results due to m.2 SSD not overheating.

Edit 2: Turning off antivirus improves results slightly. I turned of my AV (both Malwarebytes and Windows Defender) and got much better results in Atto benchmark, especially with lower file sizes (4KB, 8KB, etc). However it's still way too slow, in Magician and elswhere, and I get weird results as well, my 970 EVO m.2 showing very similar results as my 860 EVO. I'm pulling my hair out. I have a strong suspicion Windows 10 is limiting factor here.

In Samsung Magician, what is listed under "Interface", on the main screen? On mine, Samsung 970 EVO, it shows "PCIe Gen. 3 x 4". What does yours say?

On your motherboard, where is the SSD installed? M2_1, M2_2, or M2_3? Try installing NOT on M2_1.
