CPU is not being detected

For the most part my computer works. But sometimes it will struggle to turn on. Today as it struggled to turn on I realized the motherboard had debugging lights indicating that the CPU was not being detected. After unplugging then replugging all the power cables I managed to get the computer to go as far as the desktop before it shut down again saying the CPU wasn't being detected.
CPU: Intel core i7 8700k
Motherboard: MSI z370 gaming plus LGA 1151
PSU: Corsair RMX series RM750x 750w
GPU: EVGA GTX 1060 ssc
RAM: 16GB (2x8) ddr4 3200

Got to ask are you sure you installed CPU correctly and NONE of the pins were bent or missing? and your RAM is in as you are using two sticks The 2 black slots A1 and B1?

I can check the pins but like I said before the computer normally works. I also had no trouble inserting the CPU and locking it into place.

I reinstalled all of the components including the CPU, GPU, storage, and ram. According to the manual the RAM is placed correctly. The pins look fine to me. I also applied new thermal paste. It booted up two times and powered off on me within minutes. I am typing this on the third time and it seems fine but I would not consider this problem solved. Thank you for the help so far and I hope to get more so I can finally rest easy.

Edit: it froze and I had to reset again

Put your RAM at slowest speed and pass a memory test. You can use de windows memory test, just type memory at cortana hole and go on.

Better one by one stick.

You also can use event manager for a clue.

You should try something as simple as to take the CPU and reseat it, making sure it in firmly. If you have already tried that, try RMAing your motherboard incase there are a few problems in your motherboard.
