Hi all, I recently switched my system to the fractal design define r6, no real other hardware changes. In fact I made this switch 3 days ago and just yesterday my videos were rendering fine.
But alas, today my render times have doubled if not tripled in some cases. Here are my specs for reference:
8700k i7 4.8 Ghz
64GB DDR4 2400mhz RAM
1080TI
Corsair HX1000i
Noctua DH-15
Asus Maximus Hero z370
Samsung Evo 960 M.2 Drive
Raid 5 External enclosure for media
Initially I thought that I missed a step or possibly even shorted something out hardware wise during the case swap, but again, the render times were absolutely fine yesterday. I checked the logs in adobe media encoder to insure this.
Some of the steps I have already taken troubleshooting wise:
1. Reinstalled the cooler and replaced thermal paste
2. Ran crystal disk mark on all hard drives and made sure scratch disks were set up properly
3. Down-clocked the CPU to 4.7 and then even to stock speeds
One issue I was having earlier today was getting high temps while exporting (82C). One thing that I'm worried may have happened is that I burned out the CPU and now it is messed up. Though when I was exporting videos at 4.7 Ghz I couldn't notice any thermal throttling going in in AI Suite 3.
I have yet to preform any stress tests, not sure if this would help isolate the issue. I wanted to check on here first before reinstalling the OS, Premiere, or anything like that since it was literally working yesterday and is most likely a hardware issue.
Everything else seems to be fine while playing games, editing etc. If anyone here has any insight as to what might have happened, much appreciated.
Thank You
Aaron
