cx 550 psu, passes paperclip test, but will not work with my b250 motherboard. i am upgrading to ryzen and want to know if the psu will work wiuth the new mobo. my old apevia power supply will turn on the fans of the b250 mobo but will not boot. so in summary, my final question is, will my new power supply work with the new ryzen mobo?

Solution
The paper clip test is essentially useless.
If a psu fails the test, it confirms a bad psu.
But, if it passes, it does not say the psu will operate properly.
Apevia is considered as junk and should probably not be used, regardless.

Your CX550 is a decent unit and should be under warranty if it needs replacement.
But, you will have to demonstrate proper operation using a good psu first to confirm that the cx550 is bad and not something else.
Probably best to wait and test things out on your new setup.

I am confused. Because the b250 is intel lga1151, ryzen or b350 is amd. What did you have? Also can your post PC specifications too?
