Booted from online games after roughly one hour.

Since buying a new computer I have been receiving constant and consistent disconnects from online games after about an hour. I will be playing fine then suddenly the game acts like it is not receiving any data and I run around without being able to interact with anything then get a socket closed message.
I am using an wired connection and experience no other internet connection issues. My partner who plays a lot of ps4 suffers no connection issues when playing online.

My network card is: realtek PCIe GBE family controller

Solutions I have tried:
Updated drivers on network card.
Reserved my IP
Full network reset.
Ran a broadband quality check which while only recently started showed no packet loss during my last disconnect.
The power management option in the driver properties is turned off.
All cables have been unplugged/plugged.

Is it only one particular game? Which ones do you experience the disconnect? How did you run the 'broadband quality check'? (there's tons of virus' and malware that tout themselves as an internet quality check)

Have you tried keeping a ping going to see if that drops too? Is the game being run from a server where someone could be booting you?

Thank you for the reply.

The games are Elder scrolls online and eve online.
The broadband quality check was one touted heavily on my isp forum it is thinkbroadband.com
I have not tried to keep a ping going but I shall look into doing so next time I log on.
I honestly have no idea if someone could be booting me but I see no reason why they should.

Thanks again for the response.

Okay, those games don't run on a personal server so no, no one's booting you.
Try to keep a ping going to google and see what happens to that when your game drops.
Also, watch a 1080p high def TV program online and see if that cuts out after an hour.

Are you running any firewall or antivirus software? If so try disabling it (just for your gaming session).

Thanks again for the response.

When I went to disable the firewall I had a look in the exceptions and neither Eve nor ESO had an exception and out of all the games I play they seemed to be the only ones. So I gave them one. Just tried ESO for about an hour and no disconnect. Dont have time to play longer right now but this could have been the problem (i hope?).

Many thanks once more, hopefully this has sorted but if not I shall try other things.

Tbh that was going to be my next step but having recently lost my job i was going to try every thing else first before splashing out cash. Thank you for the suggestion though, is appreciated.

You can watch your network monitor to see if an application starts using your network. My internet is slow so I have to keep mine up all the time, because I'll crash if anything else starts downloading. Games don't use very much bandwidth but when your bandwidth is maxed your latency usually sky rockets. My phone kept trying to upload to the cloud on wifi and it took me all night to figure out.

Yes, it's very possible that your firewall was causing issues.

Just to give an update. Problem returned so bought a cheap wireless adaptor. Its chopped my internet speed in half but I just played nearly 2 hours ESO unbroken so I'm guessing its a fault somewhere with the ethernet side of things. Ordered a new cable to see if that fixes the problem. If not guess I'll have to buy a new card. But at least it seems I know where the problem is and hopefully can get round it from here.

Thank you to all who tried to help. Very much appreciated. o7

Update 2: Bought a new cable and disconnect still occured. So narrowed it down to a problem with the NIC. So unless someone has a solution settings wise I guess its time to buy a new card...
