240hz 1080p or 144hz 1440p

Since , both cost around the same , which one is better , paired with a gtx 1070, i5 7400 , 16 gb ram?

I mainly play rainbow six siege , overwatch , sometimes csgo and pubg
 
It's hard to say without knowing the screens in question, since each could have other different features as well, but if all other things were equal, I would go with the 144hz, 1440p screen. Many modern games will be limited to frame rates below 144Hz by even the fastest CPUs available today anyway. And while the difference between 60Hz and 100+Hz should be noticeable, there tends to be diminishing returns the higher you go, so 240Hz isn't likely to be much better than 144Hz. The sharper image from the increased resolution is bound to be more noticeable though.

The only downside, I would say, is that your graphics card won't be able to render as high of frame rates at 1440p, since your GPU needs to render significantly more pixels at that resolution compared to 1080p. In general, frame rates are likely to be around 30% lower at 1440p if set to the same graphics settings.
