How can I be sure that a CPU will work on my motherboard?

Hi,
I am thinking of purchasing a procesor to upgrade a very old PC.
The motherboard is Asus m2n-mx se plus from 2006. It currently has an Athlon LE-1620 and I want to buy an AMD Phenom II X4 B60 3.2GHz.
I don't know much about PC components but the motherboard has an AM2+ socket and the CPU I want to buy should work with this socket but the problem is that I searched the supported CPU's for this motherboard on the Asus website and this CPU is not listed there, interesting thing is that neither the CPU that is already installed its not listed there.
My question is can the CPU I want to buy(AMD Phenom II X4 B60) work in this motherboard?

I also want to specify that there are 4 other AMD Phenom II X4 processors listed as supported on the motherboard webpage.

Solution
The only way to be completely sure is to stick with processors that are listed on the CPU Support List.

I can't tell you why your current, working processor is not listed. I can't tell you if the processor you want will work. I can say the processors on the CPU Support List should work without issue.

It should work but no guarantee. The fact that your current processor is not listed as supported tells me that the list is not comprehensive. I would not hesitate to try it since other Phenom X4 processors are listed as compatible.
