HDD really slow

My hdd causes games to stutter. I have tried defraging, check disk and checked its helath which was good. What else can i do?

I have 4gb of ram. The laptop is aprox 5 years old. I am playing fortnite on low graphics on very decent fps(45+) but i have spikes of stuttering when a new terrain or city loads.
