Hello guys,

I have this laptop (Acer Predator Helios 300) for 3 months and it was working fine, even tho I gamed so little. I installed AC Origins and noticed that there is full CPU (i5-7300hq) and 80-90% GPU (1060) usage. I don't know if you should be getting 30fps on medium with this gpu, maybe bottlenecked but whatever, that's not the bigger problem.

I connected to my PC monitor with hdmi to play it on a bigger screen (Asus 24'' 60hz). I was playing it fine for 2 days. Yesterday when I booted up the laptop, there was no display on the PC monitor. So I disconnected it , launched the game and noticed this (https://imgur.com/a/PuyJF) on my laptop monitor. I connected the PC Monitor again and this problem persisted.

I would like to note that CPU maxed at 85c and was running average 80, and the GPU maxed 72c while playing this game.
I also played with Acer's gpu overclocking program (PredatorSense), but this persist with OC and without.
I also reinstalled the gpu drivers. About BIOS drivers, I'm worried since it says it can harm my system so I didn't do it.
I opened another game (Forza Horizon 3) and this occurs there too.

Here's a video.

Sorry for the bad quality I guess vimeo lowers them.

What do you think? Faulty? This problem occurs for the first time, never had any problems these 3 months even I gamed like 5 hours a week these 3 months.

bad thermal paste almost all laptops use a low end one check out linustechtips on youtube to see more about laptop cooling and how to change your termal paste without voiding warranty

also your laptop cant deliver full power to gpu without being constantly pluged in

It's definitely a cooling issue. I've had that happen before. Personally, I always disassemble/replace the thermal paste on all my laptops. Normal(non-gaming) laptops I replace the paste with Arctic Silver. Gaming laptops I use Grizzly Kryonaut. Granted, I'm a tech and enjoy taking laptops apart.
Another thing to do is using a laptop cooling pad. Never place your laptop on your bed/carpet/lap.

I don't plan on replacing thermal paste myself since it may void my warranty. Anyway, I was playing plugged in and was using a DeepCool Laptop Cooling Pad on max the whole time.
