What will make my system run games better

Hey there I have a and fx 6300 with 16gb 1600mhz ram with a msi gtx 1070 gaming 8gb with a hdmi 2.0 on a 1080p 75hz Acrer Curved monitor

Without changing to Intel what could I do to play games better I was thinking maybe to put 1866mhz ddr3 ram but I don't know

mafia 3 at max settings 4k? ~20 fps average with a 1070

that is nothing to brag about


upgrade your setup for max settings 1440p ~60 fps, you will need a OC'ed ryzen 1600 or better

i doubt very much that upgrading your ram will make much or any difference at all, you could maybe try overclocking your cpu and gfx card, i'm sure your 1070 will certainly add a few frames if overclocked, dont have much knowledge about your cpu but im sure someone can point you in the right direction :) surprised your having trouble with that gfx card ? maybe its your cpu bottle necking ??

I have increased the grx card but I don't know how far it can be pushed and the chip is running at 4.5ghz. Also I would get the Ryzen system but it's just to much money

without a complete system rebuild there is nothing you can do

you just made a very poor choice in putting a very nice gpu with a obsolete cpu



given gpu prices I would sell the 1070 and buy something like a used gtx 970

and save money for a complete rebuild

No the card I got a few months ago the chip I got 2 years ago now mate and didn't see the point in going to an eight core with the Ryzen systems out and I've never liked Intel systems

there is no point in going 8 core for gaming no, the 6300 was obsolete 2 years ago you should have asked for help building a gaming setup

the ryzen are an upgrade from what you have, sure but if you dont have a 1440p or better monitor they are not good enough either

in order to fully use the 1070 at resolutions lower than 1440p you need an intel setup

you have some choices to make, otherwise the money you spend on the 1070 is just flushed down the toilet

Well I don't know I can run Mafia 3 at 4k maxed out no problem I was wondering if there was anything I could do it also runs DXMD and Rise of the tomb raider both at 2k maxed out

I have a fx 6300 running at 4.2ghz started with a r7 240 but I bought a msi gtx 1070 gaming 8gb and I was wondering what i5 and i7 chips would work best for gaming with the gtx and what difference would having the 1070 on a ddr4board also which Ryzen chip would be good

i5 8400, i5 8600k would be ideal

depending on ram speed you would gain some fps, 2666mhz would be a good starting point
