Hello, Its been 8 years since I upgraded my CPU, Over the past years I've only upgraded my GPU and I ask you guys for any opinion.

The Processor upgrade that I have chosen is the Intel Core i3-8100.

My Current Specs:
Intel Core i3-2100
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB DDR3 (2 x 4GB)
600W CoolerMaster PSU
Asus H61M-C
Geforce GTX 1060 3GB (Palit)

I think the i3-8100 is a good companion for my GTX 1060 (3gb) right? I am in a tight budget you see.

First thing first is that I know that by upgrading to the i3-8100 I need to replace my Mobo and Ram because their socket is LGA 1155, from my research.

I will be shopping on this store (Below is the link of their website)
https://pcx.com.ph/

So could any of you suggest a good mobo and ram for i3-8100 and gtx 1060 3gb Thank you!

Hello dragon50!
Yes, i3-8100 is a good companion for my GTX 1060. those will perform well in games.
You will need an intel z370 chipset motherboard and DDR4 RAM for that processor.
That website is rather slow.
Look for ASRock Z370 Pro4 (90-MXB5X0-A0UAYZ) and Corsair Vengeance LPX DIMM Kit 8GB, DDR4-3000, CL15-17-17-35 (CMK8GX4M2B3000C15) !

Hello, Thank you for that input. I will canvas around for AsRock z370 Pro4 and Corsair Vengance DIMM 8GB.

Disregard if you read this... didn't realize the i3-8100 is a FOUR CORE CPU.

That is a great CPU for the price. I have a i7-3770K (at 4.4GHz) and rarely see a CPU bottleneck with my GTX1080 (run at 2560x1440).

Almost NEVER benefitted from the hyperthreading or even would use FOUR CORES without hyperthreading as very few games scale muvh beyond three cores even today (a few exceptions).

The i3-8100 runs at 3.6GHz without Turbo. Probably similar to my CPU per-core at 4GHz or so.

Basically probably will see minimal CPU bottleneck with i3-8100 + GTX1060 in general. Every game has CPU bottlenecks, though specifically you're more prone with SHOOTERS running lower resolution with higher FPS.

Hi, Thank you but umm you see I am having trouble understanding what you just said haha.

What do you mean by disregard?
