Hello. I just updated my bios couple days ago and my idle temps are up by 3-6C depending of core. Bios settings are all the same, same fan settings etc, so im curious what this is about?
Updated bios from 0607 to 0613

I got: Asus z370 prime-a and i5-8600K @ stock speeds

Solution

It could be that before the update, the temps you were getting were not the actual temps and they fixed it.
Also the BIOS update could have improved the performance or stability by delivering more voltage, consequently increasing temps.
You should read the BIOS details from the manufacturer's website, most of the times they will post that info.

There have also been some security microcode released for Intel CPUs. One of the features they disabled was part of the branch cache prediction. This makes the CPU less good at predicting the data it will need next. Each miss means more processing time, so an increase in general processing required to achieve any given task would also raise temperatures.
