So I bought a new cpu cooler (cryorig h7) to replace my old one which had broke. I also bought two new sticks of ddr3 ram to replace my old ram. After installing the cooler, my pc wouldn't turn on. None of the fans would budge after pressing the power button. The only response I got from my rig, is the green light above the psu once I switched the psu on. I did apply too much thermal paste, and some of it leak out from in between the heatsink and cpu and it's on the edges of the cpu. Could that be why it's not going on? That's about it, I just don't know why it wont turn on.

Solution
There might be RAM incompatibility. Try to use your old ram and report back.

Thermal paste is usually non conductive, so even if you get it on some components near the cpu lid you can just wipe it off. What paste did you use?

First, check you've plugged the CPU fan into the correct header on your Motherboard. If the BIOS doesn't detect the fan it will prevent boot as a precautionary. Second, there is a small chance that the thermal paste could create a short circuit on the PCB of the Motherboard (even though it's said that thermal paste is an insulator, not a conductor), it still likely contains silver or other metals that may conduct - So you might have cooked your Motherboard.
