I upgraded from an Athlon 860K to an i5-7400 with an ASUS Z170-P D3 motherboard and it has worked up to expectations. Tried playing some Grand Theft Auto 5 after a while and to my surprise I bluescreened with the message "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION cmdcss.sys". Temperatures are great when playing other games, I've updated my GPU drivers and re-installed GTAV. The BSOD is pretty much instant on launching the game. Might be worth meantioning that my copy of GTA V is uh.. lets say "non-steam". Though it did work on the old motherboard and CPU I had. Ask me any additional information you need, I'm comfortable with using PC's and have built mine, but the most I've coded is copy-pasted commands into the cmd prompt.
