So i have made other topics about this one but now is the time for a choice. I have been looking to the options I have in the time of choosing a cpu but the thing is that ofcourse i want performance but aswell as a good budget. First thing is that I dont wanna overclock and am stuck to the choice betwen a i7 4790 or Xeon E3-1226. My budget is 400$ and out of those am trying to buy a 16 GB of ram wich in my shity country cost 160$ (16 GB x DDR3 Ram). Now i have seen videos of the E3-1226 and its <MOD EDIT LANGUAGE> insane and the intel site says it price is 240$ but when i go on ebay or amazon they give me a price of 300$+ and for is it worth spending more to get the 4790 for 350$?

Pretty much the questions are Xeon E3-1226(240$) or i7 4790(350$) !?
Wich one is more worth it? Is the price of the xeon actually 240$ or is it higher?

The price you see from Intel may not reflect the actual market price of the CPU as it's older processor. eBay and 3rd party sellers are the only places you'll find LGA1150 processors and prices vary by seller. MSRP doesn't mean anything for older products.

I recommend the i7 4790 personally. If you are buying a CPU for an older platform you should try to get the best one you can. The extra 4 threads is very nice and applications/games in the future will take advantage of them more and more. It will last longer.

Just wondering, how do you still have a LGA 1150 motherboard? I think mine broke and I am trying to find another one.

Also, you could go with an intel i5 or i3 depending on what you want to do, it would probably be your best bet for budget + performance.

I would think that the xeon or the i7 do not have inflated prices, as they sell quite a bit of both. i7's are everywhere: gaming community, video editing community, business pcs, etc
Same with xeon: business pcs, home pcs, etc
Thats just what I guess since they both probably sell quite a bit.
But it all depends on what your trying to do or what your going to be doing with your pc
